Is it possible to start new stories with a level of ‘unrated’ rather than the 5? Surely that skews the results a little. Cheers, The e-Fiction Book Club. We read! |

It does skew them a tiny bit. Depending on when the story was added, the rating of five is ether artificial (just for show) or real. It mostly effects though on the Highest/Lowest Rated sort order. I’m not too sure how to handle this - No Rating effectively means they will be listed lower then those actually rated low - the default was added as an attempt to prevent this. It doesn’t work too well though. Should I just reveal which stories are actually not rated rather then displaying 5? ~ Chris Clarke Sorrowful Unfounded - Personal Weblog |

I’m in favour of showing which stories aren’t rated. My reasoning is that you can’t tell what ratings have been given by members, so don’t know if a 5 is really a 5 or just a new story. And if they’re unrated, it might tempt people to have a look at them. You could also have a list of unrated stories, so people could see what hasn’t been looked at. I’m still going through the lists looking at stuff. So much to read! Something else I wondered was if it was possible to rank things by how often they update. Like an activity rank thingy? OK, expect that next week. I won’t stop applying the internal rank of 5, but I will replace 5 out of 5 with Not Rated. For the second thing, depends on what you mean: How often chapters are posted (based on Update Schedule) - in which case, yes, I could implement this. or How often the listing item’s details update. In this case, it would be not at the moment because I don’t keep track of that (other then tweeting most of the time when something changes). ~ Chris Clarke Sorrowful Unfounded - Personal Weblog |

You rock Chris. :) And I meant the first one - the update schedule. So I could see what was updating daily/weekly, and what updates once in a blue moon. I’m not keen on spending my limited time getting into a serial that only updates every few months, or never. Cheers, The e-Fiction Book Club. We read! |

OK, will either add it at the same time I make the no rating change or when I roll out fictio by this user and author cp. ~ Chris Clarke Sorrowful Unfounded - Personal Weblog |

I like the idea of replacing the 5 with not rated. Also because when you submit a new listing (and you’re the author) getting a 5 is a little disheartening. :P oh us writers and our self-confidence issues…. also, I tend to check out unrated things for kicks, so yeah. Unrated is implemented on Browse Stories section. I thought it wasn’t working, but it seems Google Bot was still being mean and rating everything 1, so I had to remove around 80 ratings. :( I thought I had protected against it. ~ Chris Clarke Sorrowful Unfounded - Personal Weblog |

Still haven’t coded the request about an order by update schedule… but ... Currently, you can search for Weekly or Completed in Search, and it will list all the fiction that is completed, or updated weekly. The same works for the other available update schedules. ~ Chris Clarke Sorrowful Unfounded - Personal Weblog |
