"Nothing too original or taxing – but an enjoyable read non the less."

Rating: 7 / 10

The first few pages I found lacked sufficient plot and tension and might have prevented me from pursuing this story further. Nevertheless, I persevered and the reward was an enjoyable read. If the intended audience is the Potterites I am sure there will be those who will see too many similarities. However, there is sufficient originality to appeal and recapture the imagination of those willing to read it with an open mind. There have been comments about the time taken to load the pages. I did not experience this problem so it would not appear to be a general problem.

"Better then Harry Potter, this far!"

Rating: 8 / 10

On a scene-by-scene basis, I thought that this book, thus far, is better than the Harry Potter series. However, due to the authors’ time constraints, they are unable to write as much detail as most fantasy authors, so the scenes often are lacking in transitions and readers might sometimes get frustrated when characters are seemingly abandoned, as in the first book with Fell. This is not to say that this story is bad, however. On the contrary, I love it and usually check at 3 AM every Friday for the latest update, and several random times during the week as well.

"Just like a real book."

Rating: 7 / 10

Well, if you were looking for a novel that is published like a real book, this is it. Painstakingly slow to load and read (you’d better have fast broadband, or else it takes up to 5 minutes for a page to load), the novel does include images of the characters which are usually worth the wait.

Sadly, the characters turn out to be very simple, while the authors’ attempts at trying to break the stereotypes for adventurers (a thief princess, a thief ‘breaking rules’ and a warrior farm-boy), it brings nothing new to the world of fiction. Numerous other novels (such as Kate Forsyth’s ‘The Witches of Eileanana’) create in-depth characters and are worth the time spent sourcing them from a library.

For the convenience of online reading, it is fine for whiling away hours if you are after something that is light-hearted and easier to chew through.

"Fun, but a little flat."

Rating: 6 / 10

I liked the format (another reviewer mentioned slow load times, but it was near-instant for me) and it's great to have good art and such in a free online story.

But... the characters are flat, and a little boring, the setting a little too contrived and lacking in originality, and the plot is mundane and predictable.

The writing in general is solid, but pedestrian. If I had a lot of spare time on my hands I might continue to follow this story, but as it stands there are so many things warring for my attention that I just don't have the patience to see it through.

"Pretty cool!"

Rating: 7 / 10

I am REALLY sick of "schools" in online literature.  (Also sick of vampires, elves, GBLT sandwiches and the other overused themes)

But this one’s got a lot going fot it.  For one thing, these kids are superheroes or spiking zombies.  It’s a clever premise with a lot of flexibility. The layout (and maps, characters, etc) are nicely done and fun.  I’m not at all crazy about the faux page layout of the reading material)

Which is, let’s be frank, well-written, but nothing to go wild and start a seminar on.

I’d say this:  a kid has gone through Harry Potter and wishes Buffy would come back and Twilight dweebs would die of hemophilia or something:  they’d dig this one.

And if they’re gamers or Indiana Jones fans…

"Guess what? I found this story captured my interest!"

Rating: 9 / 10

Guess what? I found this story captured my interest and took me back to a time and place where I might have been a better fit. I enjoyed the escape that the story allowed me to experience. Maybe somewhere out there is hope for me to find purpose for whatever. I send this story 4.5 stars.
