"A frantic ride from start to finish." permalink
The Bikes of New York is one of those stories that captivate you from the first page, entice you through and amazing world and drag you inexorably to a stunning climax.
Mr Brown is a master of lyrical prose. The unusual style of the narrative in no way detracts from its power. The conversational style of the narrator draws the reader in and makes them feel like they, too, are walking the streets of New York in this new and frightening world.
Mr Brown’s characters are real, flesh and blood beings, well painted with simple touches that make them come alive. The prose is fresh and free of purple descriptions, while still managing to reach an almost poetic cadence.
I cannot speak highly enough of this story. Well done, Mr Brown. A superb and rich tale which both elevates and terrifies.
